Position- AV Engineer
Location- Arlington, VA
Status- 6 month temp to perm (OR full-time hire for right person) after 6 months will work in Lanham, MD office
Hourly pay- $35-40 an hour depending on experience ($80-85k salary)
Start- Immediately upon interview

A. Main Job Purpose
Installation, repair and maintenance and AV equipment: codecs, projectors, screens, displays, wiring, cabling, control systems, rack-building, and the entire complete AV package. The majority of the work is performed at government facilities and commercial locations.
B. Main Responsibilities
- Integration and configuration of VTC and AV equipment with control systems
- Conduct onsite user and administration training for customers on the operation of installed equipment, software and networks
- Provide support to Help Desk by troubleshooting VTC and AV equipment.
- Integration, test, configuration and trouble-shooting of AV integrated components and installed cables
- Changes and troubleshooting to control systems, Ability to diagnose complex system problems
- Install and terminate cables to meet standards requirements
- Conduct customer site surveys and provide sales engineering support
- Prepare detailed installation, trouble-ticket reports and maintenance of customer service profiles
- Provide technical design and implementation of projects
- Oversee complete system installation and integration from start to finish
- Ability to manage large projects and report job status to customers and any related issues
C. Main Knowledge Requirements
- Formal education in Low Voltage Engineering or related field is preferred
- 7+ years of related experience in support and troubleshooting of AV and or VTC equipment
- Demonstrated experience installing and configuring, Tandberg CODECS, Polycom,
- KIV’s, gateways, gatekeepers, infrastructure hardware and software, and all associated AV equipment , such as microphone mixers and video wall processors
- CTS, CTS-D, CVE, RCCD, AMX, and or Crestron certifications a plus
- Capable of creating AMX/Crestron programs to support an equipment list
- ISDN and IP networking experience a necessity
- Demonstrated knowledge of H.323, H.320, and SIP networks
- Strong customer service attitude and organization skills
- Solid problem solving and consultative skills in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- Visio and/or CAD skills
- Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel skills a necessity
- Microsoft Project a plus
- Strong oral and communication skills
D. Other Requirements
- Ability to acquire and maintain a DOD Secret level security clearance
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel up to 70% of time
- Neat and professional appearance
- Work independently and as part of a team, as each project requires
- Must have hand/power and standard VTC/AV tools (negotiable)
E. Desirable Specializations
- CISCO certifications (CSE, CCDA, CCNA, CCVP, CUCM), but not a requirement
F. Extended Job Range – AV Field Engineer Level I to Level IV
- Less relevant experience or degree with basic technology experience would be an entry level AV FE I position
- Additional experience with the ability to work independently and to perform as team lead on a larger project would define the increased level of capability for a AV FE Level III.
Advanced and multiple certifications from industry would be required for a level (IV). In addition to having extensive industry experience, certifications, and skill, a AV FE Level IV would be capable of leading a team independently on a major project giving direction to team members of all levels.
